Antique-inspired brass hardware carrying delicate pleated ceramic shades, which is an unusual pairing and the reason this chandelier works. The brass supplies the weight and the visual anchor; the ceramic, ribbed and fluted like fabric, keeps it from feeling heavy. Together they land somewhere between a French bistro and a Victorian parlour without committing fully to either.
Three configurations are offered. Three lights at 50 cm suits a bedroom, a hallway or a smaller dining table. Five lights at 57 cm is the everyday choice over a dining table or in a living room. Eight lights at 78 cm is a proper centrepiece for a large dining room or an entrance hall. Ceramic diffuses light differently from glass, absorbing a little and softening the edge of the beam, so the room gets a warm, slightly muted light that suits an older house particularly well. Pleated shades also catch the light along each rib, so the fitting has texture even when it is off.
Ceramic shades are formed and glazed individually, so slight variation in tone and pleat is normal, and they are fragile: handle with care during installation. Bulbs are not included. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the full weight of the chandelier.
