Pleated Flower Petal Pendant Light
Layers of fabric are pleated into countless slender folds and set one above another, so the shade appears caught mid-flutter rather than fixed in place. The reference is to a flower opening or to the swirl of a full skirt, and the piece earns that comparison because the pleats genuinely catch light at different angles and give the shade movement it does not actually have.
It suits a room where the ceiling has nothing else going on and needs one thing worth looking at: over a dining table, in a bedroom, above a stairwell landing or in a living room where the seating is arranged around it. Because the light filters through many overlapping layers of fabric rather than one, what reaches the room is unusually soft, with almost no shadow edge anywhere, which makes it flattering in a dining room and comfortable in a bedroom. Hung low over a table the pleats sit near eye level and the detail can actually be seen, which is where it looks best.
The fabric is pleated by hand, so the fall of the layers varies between pieces and may settle after hanging. Bulb is not included; use a bulb that runs cool, keep it clear of the fabric and do not fit a high-wattage bulb. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the weight of the fitting.
