Solid Wood Flush Mount Ceiling Light

A solid wood base with a natural finish, sitting tight against the ceiling at only 15 cm deep. There is no drop and no visible hardware, so the fitting reads as a small wooden disc rather than as a light, and it gives a soft ambient glow rather than a hard directional beam.

Super-low ceilings are the problem this solves. In a converted loft, a cottage bedroom, a landing under a staircase or a corridor with a low soffit, most pendants are simply not an option and a bare recessed downlight adds nothing to the room. A shallow wood fitting does both jobs: it clears head height completely and it puts one warm natural material on a ceiling that would otherwise be blank. Two sizes are offered, 18 by 15 cm for a small room or a run along a corridor and 28 by 15 cm where it needs to be the main light. Natural wood is pale and Scandinavian; walnut is darker and warmer and holds its own against stronger colours.

Wood is a natural material, so grain and tone vary between pieces. Bulb is not included; use a bulb that runs cool, as the fitting is compact and sits close to the source. Intended for indoor use in dry locations only. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
