The rattan on this chandelier is not woven into a basket but into a flower: overlapping petal-shaped panels that open outward from a central point, so the shade has a defined front and reads as a pattern rather than as a texture. It is the more decorative end of woven lighting, and it does the work of a piece of art in a room that is otherwise plain.
Because the petals overlap rather than sit flush, light escapes between them at every join and throws a layered floral shadow across the ceiling. The effect changes as you move under it, which is why it rewards a spot people pass through: a stairwell, an entrance hall, the middle of a living room. Three colourways are offered.
