The pleating gives the shade its ribbed structure and the tassel gives it a point of resolution, so the eye follows the form down and stops rather than trailing off, which is a small detail that makes the whole piece feel finished.
Three sizes are offered. At 40 by 20 cm it suits a bedside, a hallway or a smaller dining table, and works in a pair at different drops. At 50 by 25 cm it is the everyday choice over a dining table. At 60 by 30 cm it has the scale to be the centrepiece of a living room or a large dining space. The Japandi reading comes from the restraint: there is no pattern, no colour and no ornament other than the tassel, and the piece works by texture alone. Light passes through the pleats as well as out of the bottom, so the shade glows softly along its ribs and the room gets a calm, even light with no glare.
Fabric is pleated by hand, so the ribs vary slightly between pieces and may settle after hanging. Bulb is not included; use a bulb that runs cool, keep it clear of the fabric and do not fit a high-wattage bulb. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the weight of the fitting.
