Concealable blades fold away inside the drum when the fan is off, so for most of the year the fixture is simply a drum light. That is the whole argument for this type: a fan you only need three months out of twelve does not have to look like a fan for the other nine, and this one genuinely does not once the blades are in.
Six fan speeds is more than most offer, and the range is the point rather than the number. At the lowest setting it moves just enough air to keep a bedroom comfortable without a draught; at the highest it clears a warm living room. Fans with three speeds tend to be either not enough or too much for the room.
The light covers the same range: bright white for reading and a warm tone for dining, switchable from the remote that is included. Two finishes are offered at the same price, black and white. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the weight and movement of a fan. Indoor use only; wipe dry and check the fixings periodically.
