Balloon Ceiling and Wall Light

The idea behind this shape is a gas balloon rising naturally to the ceiling and coming to rest against it, and the form follows that thought exactly: a smooth acrylic sphere pressed to the surface with a small tail. It is built to that familiar 1970s Italian balloon silhouette rather than being a licensed reissue of any named designer piece.

What makes it genuinely useful is that the same fitting works on a ceiling or a wall. Mounted overhead it lights a nursery or a bedroom; mounted at the side of a bed or along a hallway it becomes a sconce, which means one product can run consistently through several rooms. Seven colours are offered: white, pink, rose red, orange, yellow, green and blue, in three diameters at 25, 30 and 35 cm. The acrylic diffuser gives a soft, even light with no visible bulb, which is exactly the quality wanted in a child's room at bedtime. Groups of three in mixed colours and sizes look far better than one on its own.

This is a light fitting, not a toy, and it must be mounted securely out of reach. Bulb is not included; use a bulb that runs cool. Intended for indoor use in dry locations only. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
