The diffuser is two opalescent saucers joined at the rim, which is a specific and rather elegant piece of construction. There is no visible frame holding them, no rim detail and no fixing on show, so the two halves read as a single elliptical form rather than as an assembly of parts. Opalescent glass at this proportion produces a very even glow. The shape is wide and shallow, so the light spreads across a broad angle rather than dropping straight down, and because the material hides the bulb completely there is no bright point anywhere on the surface. From below, the whole fixture lights as one continuous ellipse with no seam visible.
It hangs from a black-painted aluminium canopy, and the lightness of the materials is what makes the fixture appear to float rather than to hang. Two finishes are offered at the same price: white, which recedes into a pale ceiling, and black, which contrasts with it. Bulb not included; a warm white LED suits opalescent glass. Indoor use.
