The shape is the Flowerpot silhouette: two hemispheres facing each other, the upper one larger, the lower one holding the bulb entirely out of sight. Verner Panton drew the original in 1969 and named it after the flower power movement, and the form has been copied and reinterpreted more or less continuously since.
This is a lamp built to that silhouette rather than an original VP9, and at this price that should be obvious, but it is worth saying plainly. What it does share is the thing that made the design work: because the two domes face each other, no part of the bulb is visible from any angle, and every bit of light you see has bounced off painted metal first.
That produces a soft, completely glare-free pool on the surface beneath it, which is why the shape has lasted. Eleven colours are offered at the same price, from dark green, grey and matt black through to pink, yellow, red, silver and gold. It suits a desk, a bedside or a console. Bulb not included; a warm white LED suits it. Indoor use. Wipe the painted metal with a soft dry cloth, avoiding anything abrasive.
