Nordic Wood and Aluminium Pendant Light

Wood grain meets an aluminium alloy shade in a design that is about as clean as a pendant gets: a plain conical shade, a wood-finished top section and nothing else. The pairing is what makes it work, because the aluminium keeps the fitting light and precise while the wood stops it from feeling cold and industrial.

Two finishes are offered. Walnut is darker and warmer and sits well with older timber, dark worktops and richer colours. Birch is pale and Scandinavian and disappears more easily against a white ceiling. Both come in two sizes, 35 by 19 cm and 50 by 24.5 cm. The smaller is the one to use in a row of two or three over a kitchen island or a breakfast bar; the larger works singly over a dining table or in a living room. The metal shade directs light firmly downwards, so it puts a bright, usable pool on a worktop or a table rather than spreading it thinly across the room, which is exactly what a kitchen or dining pendant should do.

Wood finishes vary slightly in grain and tone between pieces. Bulb is not included. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the weight of the fitting.
