Sandblasted Glass Multi-Layer Pendant

Hand-blown, sandblasted glass paired with a white frosted diffuser, so the shade has a soft matte surface rather than a reflective one and the light leaves it already diffused. Sandblasting is what gives the colour its depth: instead of a flat tint you get a slightly cloudy, mineral finish that changes as the light behind it changes.

The design is offered in one, two or three layers, and that is the main decision. A single layer, at 32 by 16 cm or the wider 42 by 11 cm, is a clean simple pendant for a bedside, a hallway or a breakfast bar. Two layers, at 32 by 24 cm or 40 by 18 cm, stack the glass and give the piece real sculptural depth over a dining table. Three layers, at 42 by 26 cm, is the full version and works as a centrepiece in a living or dining room. Three colours are available: a soft green, a warm orange and a neutral grey, and all three read as muted rather than bright.

Glass is hand-blown and sandblasted individually, so slight variation in tone, thickness and surface is normal and is part of the material. Bulb is not included. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the ceiling fixing must be rated for the full weight of the fitting, which increases with each added layer.
