13.5 cm across and 36 cm tall: two and a half times taller than it is wide, which makes this the narrowest of the bamboo lamps and the one for surfaces that have no room to spare. On a bedside table already holding a book and a glass, a lamp with a 30 cm footprint is the problem; one with a 13.5 cm footprint is not, and that is the whole reason to choose it.
The tall narrow shade also changes the light. A wide shade spreads it outward; this one sends it down in a defined column, so what you get is a small bright area on the surface below and a much darker room around it. Beside a bed, that is often exactly right, and it is a very different lamp from a broad one.
The weave is bamboo throughout, hand-worked, and light enough that the lamp is easy to move between a bedside and a desk. Bulbs are not included, for safety in shipping; energy-saving LED or incandescent bulbs of 60 W or less are recommended. Indoor use only, since bamboo absorbs moisture. Dust with a dry soft brush, working down the length of the shade.
