Stone and wood in one small ceiling downlight, which is an unusual pairing at this scale and is what gives the fitting its weight. The stone brings a cool mineral surface, the wood a warm grain, and together they make an object that holds its own on the ceiling whether or not it is switched on.
It is designed for the spaces that usually get the worst lighting in a house. A corridor, a foyer, a landing or the area just inside a front door rarely has room for a pendant, and a plain recessed downlight does the job without adding anything to the room. This does both: it throws a focused beam downward where you need it and reads as a considered detail from below. It also works over a bedside, in a child's room or above a shelf or a piece of art, and a run of three or four along a hallway ceiling gives a house a coherent, well-designed feel for very little money.
Two finishes are offered, natural wood and walnut. Wood and stone are natural materials, so grain, tone and marking vary between pieces and no two fittings are identical. Bulb is not included. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician, and the fitting should not be installed where it would be exposed to direct water.
