Coastal Woven Bamboo Pendant Light

Taller than it is wide at 40 cm across and 52 cm deep, this woven bamboo shade has the elongated basket profile that reads as coastal without needing a single rope or shell to make the point. The weave is open enough to let light through the sides, so the fitting glows along its full height rather than only at the mouth.

That vertical proportion is useful in practice. Over a dining table it hangs low without spreading wide, so it lights the table while leaving sightlines across the room clear. In a stairwell, a hallway or beside a bed it fills height that would otherwise be dead space. Hung in a pair or a group of three at staggered drops it becomes a proper feature over an island or in a double-height room. The natural bamboo tone sits with linen, white walls, pale timber and rattan furniture, which is why it works so easily in coastal, country and rustic schemes and softens a modern one.

Available hardwired for a permanent installation or as a plug-in with a cable and in-line switch. Bamboo is natural, so colour, grain and weave vary. Bulb is not included; energy-saving LED or incandescent bulbs up to 60 W are recommended, and a cool-running bulb should be used and kept clear of the weave.
