Brass and Ceramic Table and Floor Lamp

The same design in two heights: a table lamp at 35 x 60 cm and a floor lamp at 40 x 155 cm. Both pair a ceramic shade with brass, and buying one of each gives a room a matched pair working at two levels, which is a more considered arrangement than two unrelated lamps of a similar size will ever manage on their own.

Ceramic as a lampshade material is uncommon and it behaves quite differently from glass or fabric. It is opaque, so no light escapes through the sides at all, and everything goes down through the open base in a defined pool. That makes both versions task lights rather than ambient ones, which is worth knowing before choosing between them for a particular spot.

Brass gives the fixture its warmth and its period, and the two materials together place it firmly mid-century. It suits a bedroom, a living room or a child's room, and the floor version works beside a chair where the contained downward light is exactly right for reading by. Bulbs are not included. Indoor use. Wipe the ceramic with a soft cloth and the brass with a dry one, avoiding metal polish.
