Waves of wicker rather than a flat repeating weave: the strands run in undulating bands around the shade, alternating black and white, so the surface carries both a colour rhythm and a physical one. From across a room it reads as a soft grey texture; up close the individual bands separate out and the wave becomes obvious. It is a more considered surface than a plain weave.
The woven build allows a large throw of light. Because the bands leave gaps between them, a good deal escapes sideways as well as down, so the glow seeps out through the whole shade rather than only from the base, and the room gets lit well beyond the fixture's own diameter. It stays breezy and relaxed despite the graphic colouring.
Three equal-sided sizes are offered, 40, 50 and 60 cm. Natural rattan fibres carry the warmth and texture; the black and white treatment adds the contrast that lets it work in a minimalist room as well as a rustic one. Bulb not included; a warm white LED suits the fibre. Indoor use only, since rattan absorbs moisture. Dust with a dry soft brush.
