Black Minimalist Cage Pendant Light

Seven open cage shapes in black iron, each one a simple outline around the bulb rather than a shade over it. There is nothing to diffuse the light, which is the point: the bulb stays visible and the metal frame draws a clean geometric line around it, casting the shape of the cage outwards onto the ceiling and the walls.

The shapes are bell, diamond, bulb, triangle, square, flower and polygon, and they range from 12.7 to 25.4 cm wide and 22.86 to 26.67 cm high. All of them are small, which is what makes this design so useful. A single one works over a bedside, a hallway console or a desk. Three or five in a row over a kitchen island or a long dining table cost less than one large fitting and give the ceiling far more interest. Mixing two or three different shapes in one run is the way most people use them, and because the frames are all the same finish and roughly the same scale, a mixed group still reads as a set rather than a jumble.

Bulbs are not included. Because the bulb is exposed, a filament-style or decorative bulb makes a considerable difference to how the fitting looks, and a low-glare or frosted bulb is easier to sit beneath. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
