The herringbone weave is what separates this from the plain rattan shades around it. Instead of strands running in parallel, they cross in alternating diagonals, so the surface has a directional pattern that catches light along one axis and holds shadow along the other. From directly below, that reads as a fine chevron radiating out from the centre, which is a more considered effect than a basket weave gives.
It is proportioned for a kitchen island: at every size the shade is a little deeper than it is wide, so the light is delivered downward onto the worktop rather than scattered around the room. Hung in a pair or a row of three at a matched height, the repeated chevron reads as a deliberate pattern along the ceiling rather than as three separate fixtures.
Three sizes are offered, 40 x 35 cm, 50 x 45 cm and 60 x 55 cm. The 60 cm is large enough to work alone over a wide island or a long table. It is handcrafted throughout, so the weave varies slightly from piece to piece. Bulb not included; a warm white LED brings out the rustic tone. Indoor use only.
