Woven Bamboo Pendant Light, 38-100cm

Two weave patterns across a size range that runs from 38 cm up to a full metre, which makes this one of the most adaptable fittings in the range. Type A is offered at 38, 50, 60, 80 and 100 cm; Type B at 38, 50 and 60 cm. Choosing between them is a question of how open you want the weave and how much shadow pattern you want thrown onto the ceiling.

Size is the decision that matters most. At 38 and 50 cm this is a bedside, hallway or breakfast-bar light, and it works well in a row. At 60 cm it sits comfortably over a dining table or a kitchen island. At 80 and 100 cm it stops being a pendant and becomes the architecture of the room, and it needs the ceiling height and the floor area to justify it: an open-plan kitchen, a double-height living space, a large hallway. As a rough guide, over a table choose a diameter around half the table's width, and hang the base 75 to 85 cm above the surface.

Bamboo is natural, so colour, grain and weave vary between pieces. Bulb is not included; energy-saving LED or incandescent bulbs of 60 W or less are recommended. In the larger sizes the ceiling fixing must be rated for the full weight, and installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.
